YOUR BOOK HAS A MISPRINT BECAUSE THE SUM OF THE DIGITS OF THE NUMBER CAN'T BE 18 SINCE IT CAN ONLY HAPPEN IF THE NUMBER IS 99.

SO IN PLACE OF 18 IT SHOULD BE 8 & IN PLACE OF 8 IT SHOULD BE 18.

LET the Ten's digit be x and Unit's digit be y

And Original Number = 10x + y

According to Question,

x + y = 8 ----------- (i)

10x + y + 18 = 10y + x ------------ (ii)

Solving (ii)
10x + y + 18 = 10y + x
10x - x + y - 10y = -18


9x - 9y = -18
x - y = -2 ------- (iii)


ADDING (i) & (iii)

x + y = 8
x - y = -2

2x = 6

x = 3

Substituting x in eq (i)

3 + y = 8
y = 5

ORIGINAL NUMBER = 10x + y
=> 35
