Let us assume that digging of 1 whole as doing 1 unit of work.

It is given that 5 men will do 3 units of work in 3 hours.

Therefore, 5 men will do 1 unit of work in 1 hour.

Therefore, 1 men will do \frac{1}{5} unit of work in 1 hour

So, 3 men will do  \frac{3}{5} unit of work in 1 hour.

So, 3 men will do \frac{3}{5} \times \frac{5}{3} = 1 unit of work in 1 \times \frac{5}{3} hours.

Therefore, 3 men will dig 1 hole in \frac{5}{3} hours.

Therefore, 3 men will dig half a whole in \frac{5}{3} \times \frac{1}{2}=\frac{5}{6} hour that is 50 minutes.

Therefore, 3 men will dig half a hole in 50 minutes.
