can you store : (a) copper sulphate solution using vessel?
(b) copper sulphate solution in silver vessel?
(c) copper sulphate solution in iron vessel?
Give explanation.
Ecu2+/cu=0.34 V,
Ezn2+/zn=-0.76V ,
EAg+/Ag=0.80V and
Efe2+/fe= -0.44V .

Reduction potential of Copper from Cu2+(ie.in solution as CuSO4) to Cu is 0.34V.

So any vessel which is made up of a metal with higher reduction potential, can cause reduction of Cu2+ ---> Cu.

And a vessel with a metal having higher value than 0.34V cannot be used to store CuSO4.

(a) copper sulphate solution using vessel?

ans: Yes.Any vessel with lesser reduction potential than Copper.

(b) copper sulphate solution in silver vessel?

ans: No.It will reduce copper as it has higher reduction potential than copper

(c) copper sulphate solution in iron vessel?

ans: Yes.As Fe has less reduction potential than copper and it cannot reduce copper

Give explanation.

Ecu2+/cu=0.34 V,

Ezn2+/zn=-0.76V ,

EAg+/Ag=0.80V and

Efe2+/fe= -0.44V .
