1- in return they maintain the same amount by giving out o2 during photosynthesis co2 during respiration (only during nights)and water by transpiration which increases water vapour in atmosphere causing rainfall and increasing amount of ground water.

2- They depend on rocks and soil for food and shelter. Explanation: Ecologically insects such as mosquitoes and butterflies live on cracks of rocks and tree barks alongside other places. This is because they shelter on them.
