The presence of dessert and closeness to the Tropic of Cancer makes temperature of Rajasthan slightly higher than the other states. So most of the houses in Rajasthan are painted white to keep the inside temperature of the house low.
Scientific reason - The Science behind this is that white colour reflects maximum light compared to any other colour. Since maximum light is reflected back and a little amount of light is absorbed by the walls hence a negligible amount of heat get inside the house. Which keep the inside temperature comparatively lower than outside temperature.
Economical reason - White colour is easily available at low cost compared to any other colour. Hence all these reasons makes the white colour most suitable one scientifically and economically.
