Phenol(C₆H₅OH)+Diazomium Salt(C₆H₅N₂⁺Cl⁻)-------P-hydroxyazobenezene(C₆H₅N=N-C₆H₅OH)
 This is also called AZODYE TEST and it gives ORANGE ppt

Hey dear,

● Phenol to p-hydroxyazobenzene -
Phenol on reaction with benzene diazonium chloride in basic medium gives p-hydroxyazobenzene.
C6H5-OH + C6H5-N2Cl --> C6H5-N2-C6H4-OH + HCl

Here, p-hydroxyazobenzene precipitates as orange dye.

# Extra information -
Compounds with molecular formula C6H6-N2-X are called diazonium salts.

Hope this helps you.
Thanks asking.
