Jacob of 8A, began with the recitation of a few verses from the holy Quran by Razin Anwar of 7B followed by the school prayer and national anthem of UAE.
A glimpse of the traditional ladies ‘Majlis’ was exhibited by the girls of grade 5A and 6A who remained seated in the majlis wearing beautiful ‘Jalabias’ (traditional dress of the local women). Muqesa of 6A explained the way as to how hospitality towards the guests is expressed in the particular seating arrangement and serving of traditional beverages and food. This explanation in Arabic was followed by its English translation by Eimra of 6A.
Imaduddin of 7B presented a speech in Arabic to highlight the significance of the day – ‘Spirit Of The Union’. Further, to demonstrate the culture and heritage of UAE, boys of 8B performed a wonderful Bedouin folk dance.
The formal ceremony ended with the Principal’s message which emphasized on the need for all students and staff to be respectful to UAE’s culture and heritage and to contribute to UAE's overall growth.
To create awareness about emirates and its history, a quiz for students of grade 6-8 was organised on the topic ‘how well do you know the emirates?’
Girls of grade 6 – 8 decorated the corridor corners with beautiful rangoli patterns done using the colours as those in the UAE flag. Both the competitions were between 4 teams , each representing one of the 4 houses.
Children enjoyed the day while getting acquainted with the culture and heritage of the UAE and their hearts filled with love and respect towards the country and its leaders.
