My dear Ranjan,
I was glad to receive your letter. I could not reply earlier as I was busy preparing for the independence day celebration on the 15th August. I hope you will be interested to know how this day was observed by us.
We got up very early in the morning and went to school. From there we marched through the important roads in a procession. Singing national songs. The Pravat Ferry was over at 8A.M . Then the flag hoisting was done by the headmaster. After the flag hoisting sweets were distributed among children. In the afternoon a competition was held in games, music and debates etc. Students from all classes joined the competition. The prizes were awarded to the best students in a big meeting. I secured a few prizes in games and sports and stood first in debate competition. The function was over in the evening. We all returned home joyfully.
I hope you must observed the independence Day in your school. I shall be glad to here from you about this in your next letter. Gives my regards to your parents and love to youngsters.
