a number which can be written in the form of p/q where p and q are integers and q is not equal to 0.

here take an example,

0/5 is a rational number.

elements:
0 and 5 are integers.
p which is 5 isn't equals to 0


these are the conditions needed for any number to be rational I.e. it is a rational number

whereas π's value is non terminatinating non recurring . hence, it's irrational.
