Given : Candela has $5.60 in quarters and dimes in her pocket.

There are 35 coins total,

To Find : how many of each does she have

Solution:

Quarter value =  0.25 $

Dime value = 0.1  $

Let say Quarters  =   Q

Dimes  = 35 - Q

Value of Quarters  = 0.25Q

Value of Dime = 0.1(35 - Q)  = 3.5  - 0.1Q

0.25Q  + 3.5 - 0.1Q  = 5.6

=> 0.15Q  = 2.1

=> Q  = 14

Quarters  =   14

Dimes  = 35 - 14 = 21
