note: 16 ounces= one pound

          6 ounces = ?

∴6 ounces = \frac{6}{16} pounds

48 cents =  \frac{6}{16}pounds

multiplying both sides by  \frac{16}{6}

108 cents = 1 pound in the new price

= $1.08 in the new price

ratio of old price to new price =  \frac{160}{108}

therefore ratio of old price to the new price = 5:3
