SIMILE: When an implied comparison is made between two different kinds of object, and among this two, at least, one feature is common. In Simile, words “like”, “as” “resembles”, “than” are used for making comparisons. In Line 18, the poet compares the reflection of the woman with fish and has used the word “like” and hence it is a simile.
METAPHOR: Metaphor involves comparison of two nouns and in line 10 of the poem, poet equates the mirror with lake and therefore it is the perfect example of a metaphor.
PERSONIFICATION: In personification, an object is treated as a person or anything that has the life. Poet in line 12 of the poem tells candles and moons as liars. Here candles and moon are personified as the human being.
METAPHOR: Metaphor involves comparison of two nouns and in line 10 of the poem, poet equates the mirror with lake and therefore it is the perfect example of a metaphor.
