Answer:

For any storage element, reactance(AC resistance) describes its behaviour at zero or higher frequencies. So the capacitor acts as open circuit for zero frequency or DC signal and inductor acts as short circuit. Also the capacitor acts short circuit for higher frequencies and inductor acts as open circuit

Given : Capacitor

To Find  : capacitor acts only

a) a,c circuit

b) d,c circuit

c) a and b

d) nothing

Solution:

Impendence by capacitor Xc   =  1/(ωC)

ω = 2πf

=> Xc = 1/(2πfC)

in case of DC , frequency is zero

Hence  Xc beomes infinite

Infinite impendence means   Open circuit

Hence Capacitor block DC

So capacitor can not be used in DC circuit

Hence Capacitor acts in AC Circuit only
