hey
The statement is correct because capital justice belongs to the retributive system of justice which believed in the 'eye for an eye' for an eye principle. When society wasn't as advanced, the only thing which would bring justice would be to cause the same harm in degree, to the other person who has caused it. But as society developed, restorative justice took its place which placed emphasis on the rehabilitation of both the victim and the culprit. Therefore, capital punishment is a relic of the past when little value was attached to human life.
