Given :  Car a speed =  45 mph

Car b speed =  50 mph

the distance between them was 6 miles when they started

To Find  :  when will car a catch up with car b

Solution:

running in same direction :

Car a is ahead

Let say after T hrs they meet

Distance covered by car a = 45T

Distance covered by car b = 50T

50T = 45T + 6

=> 5T = 6

=> T = 1.2 hr

1 hr 12 mins

Car b is ahead

Car a can not catch up with car b as car a speed is less and car a is laready behind

running towards each other

Then 50T + 45T = 6

=> T = 6/95 hr

= 3.8 Mins
