Car ❤️

A car has to carry an important person across the desert. There is no petrol station in the desert and the car has space only for enough petrol to get it half way across the desert. There are also other identical cars that can transfer their petrol into one another. How can we get this important person across the desert?

We will start with 4 identical cars .

Identical cars can carry the same amount of fuel / petrol .

Our objective is to get past the desert safely .

I will take the last car through the half last part of the desert .

So my objective is to cover the first half switching three cars .

Let the total distance be x .

We travel x/6 distance at first .

At that instant , all cars have 2/3 rd fuel and hence we can take the fuel from any of the cars and fill all the cars ( except one ) .

One car will travel x/6 distance and then it will transfer the fuel .

So we are left with three cars .

Similarly after x/6 th distance repeat the process .

Now two cars are left behind .

Two cars left with us and the next x/6 th repeat the same process .

The distance covered = x/6 + x/6 + x/6 = x/2 .

So we are left with x - x/2 = x/2

We can easily cover x/2 distance with one car .

Hence we cane easily pass the desert .
