Answer:

Velocity of Car B after collision will be 22.5 ms⁻¹

Explanation:

Mass of Car A , m₁ = 1500 kg

initial velocity of Car A , u₁ = 25 ms⁻¹

Mass of Car B , m₂ = 1000 kg

initial velocity of Car B , u₂ = 15 ms⁻¹

Final velocity of Car A , v₁ = 20 ms⁻¹

And, Let final velocity of Car B  = v₂

here ,initial velocity refers to velocity before collision

and final velocity refer to velocity after collision.

Knowing formula to Calculate momentum

momentum = mass × velocity

i.e,  p = m v

and , Using Law of conservation of momentum

which states that : For a collision occurring between two objects in an isolated system, The total momentum of the two objects before collision is equal to the total momentum of objects after collision, that means momentum Neither is momentum created nor destroyed and hence is conserved.

so,

total momentum before collision = total momentum after collision

→ m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁  + m₂v₂

→ (1500) (25) + (1000) (15) = (1500) (20) + (1000) (v₂)

→ 37500 + 15000 = 30000 + 1000 v₂

→ 52500 - 30000 = 1000 v₂

→ 1000 v₂ = 22500

→ v₂ = 22500 / 1000

v₂ = 22.5 ms⁻¹

Therefore,

Velocity of Car B after collision will be 22.5 ms⁻¹ .
