car covers two fifths of a 150-km road with a velocity of 60 km/h east and then continues to cover
the rest towards the east in another hour. Find its average speed and average velocity (in km/h).

Average speed and average velocity = 75km/h

It is given that :-

Length of road = 150km

In first case distance traveled = 2/5 of road

With velocity = 60km/h

Second case travels left distance in time = 1hr

Average speed = ?

Average displacement = ?

Now, in the first case distance traveled by car

 =  \frac{2}{5}  \times 150

 = 60km

Now the time taken to travel in first case =

 =  \frac{60}{60}  =  \frac{d}{v}

 = 1hr

And it is given that the car then covers rest distance in 1 hr , so the total time taken in journey = 1hr + 1hr = 2hr.

And the total distance = 150 km, Now the average speed of car is :

V_avg =  \frac{150}{2}  = 75km/ h

And as there is no condition given in question that road is curved so we can say displacement = distance.

Thus average velocity = Average speed.
