Let the original speed be x.

If we increase it by 25% we will have :

1.25x

If we increase it again by 20% we will have :

120/100 × 1.25x = 1.50x

The percentage difference between this speed and the original speed is :

1.50x - x = 0.5x

0.5x/x × 100 = 50

= 50%
