AnswEr :

  • Average speed is 100km/h.

Given :

At the first half time, speed of car is 80 km/h.

  • Distance(D1) = 80 km × t

For the second half, speed of car is 120km/h.

  • Distance (D2) = 120 km × t

To Find :

Average velocity(Vavg) = ?

Solution :

Let the time required by each half be t.

Total distance covered :

D = D1 + D2

D = 80t + 120t

D = 200t km

Total time taken :

T = 2t (As each half's distance is t)

So,

Average speed :

Vavg = Total distance /Time taken

Vavg = D / t

Vavg = 200t / 2t

Vavg = 100 km/h

The speed of an object or body is the magnitude itself of the change of its position .

Average speed is measured in miles per hour or kilometers per hour .

Average speed is mainly applied to vehicles like trains, cars , etc.

It is a Scalar quantity.
