Cara and Chuck were looking at pond water through a microscope, they must have saw a living thing. Cara wondered what it was, but chuck replied that it is a sure living thing.
It must bee have been a body made of cells because a cell is a structural and functional unit of life, and that maybe the only thing that have helped to identify that it was a living organism.

Phytoplankton are similar to plants but are found on the surafce of water bodies like ponds, oceans, etc.
They need sunlight, water and nutrients just like plants.
Phytoplanktons also contain chlorophyll which makes them green in colour, the reason why a normal plant is green.
They use the chlorophyll to generate carbohydrates which they require to grow for sustenance.
