Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes was among many things an American poet, professor and a lecturer. He was a person well settled in life and a lover of books. He had invited Helen and Miss Sullivan to visit him and was deeply impressed by Helen’s ability to recite poems like ‘The Chambered Nautilus’ by heart. He immediately noticed her love for reading and books and asked her to examine different things for him. They met many times after this and shared their love for literature.
