Carbon-16 has;

6 protons and 10 neutrons and 6 electrons.

All these; protons, neutrons and electrons are subatomic particles and the are found in the atom.

protons and electrons are in the nucleus while the electrons are found in the energy levels.

C-16 means mass number of carbon atom is 16. it is isotope of carbon atom. in which number of neutrons are different while number of protons and electrons are same in each atom.


so, number of protons = 6

number of electrons = 6

number of protons + number of neutrons = mass number

6 + number of neutrons = 16

number of neutrons = 10
