Answer:-

In the first compound

  • Carbon=42.9℅
  • Oxygen=(100- 42.9)℅=57.1℅

In the second compound

  • Carbon=27.3℅
  • Oxygen=(100-27.3)℅=72.7℅

\star In the first compound the number of parts by mass of oxygen that combine with one part by mass of hydrogen:-

\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{57.1}{42.9}=1.33Parts

\star In the first compound the number of parts by mass of oxygen that combine with one part by mass of hydrogen:-

\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{72.7}{27.3}=2.66Parts

Ratio:-

\\ \sf \longmapsto 1.33:2.66=1:2

Since this ratio is a simple whole number ratio ,hence the given data illustrates the law of multiple proportions.
