Carbon compound are poor conductors of electricity as they form covalent bonds,so it does not give rise to free electrons(all electrons are use in making covalent bonds) and as a carbon compound does not dissociate itself into ions.... therefore carbon compounds are poor conductors of electricity...

carbon can be the poor conductor of electricity because the carbon makes covalent bonds and ot can dissociate itself into ions and carbon is also a non metal and all non metals are poor conductor of electricity
