It becomes a pollutant when plants and fossils fuels are burned.

Explanation:

  • Carbon dioxide in the air is necessary because CO2 is one of the substrates which is used by plant to make their food and as a byproduct they release oxygen which is taken by animals.
  • CO2 is a greenhouse gas and it becomes a pollutant when we burn fossil fuel and trees which release this CO2 in the air. This CO2 traps the sun radiation and cause the heating of the earth.
  • So CO2 and other greenhouse gases are responsible for increasing the global temperature of the earth.
