Carbon dioxide is not visible and which means it has large intermolecular spaces so it is a gas Carbon dioxide is made of one carbon and 2 oxygen molecules so the gas molecules dominate and hence it is a gas

Carbon dioxide is a gas and some of the important properties that justify this statement are,

  • It does not have a specific shape and it takes the shape of the container used.
  • It does not have a specific volume, it can be compressed into a lesser volume.

Carbon dioxide is a gas that comprises about 60% of the dry air content. This is produced in the atmosphere as a result of respiration of the aerobic organisms.
