Carbon Dioxide :

The amount of carbon dioxide in air is less than one percent It is a colourless gas. Iit has no smell but a sour taste. It's slightly soluble in water but its solubility increases under high pressure. It is l heavier than air. It can turn lime water miliky. Carbon dioxide does not bun. It also does not support the burning process.

Uses of Carbon Dioxide :

  • All green plants absorb carbon dioxide from the air to make food.

  • Carbon dioxide is filled in soda water bottles under some pressure.

  • A fire extinguisher releases carbon dioxide to put out fires.

  • When the cake is baked, bubbles of carbon dioxide are given out. These bubbles cause the cake to rise and become fluffy.

  • Carbon dioxide is easily frozen into its solid form which is called dry ice, The dry ice is used to preserve the food.
