Carbon forms covalent bonds with other atoms but not
ionic bonds. Why? Explain.​

Carbon forms covalent bonds because carbon has an atomic number 6 and have 4 electrons in its octet so it can neither lose nor gain 4 electrons to complete it's octet so it forms covalent bonds by sharing it's 4 electrons and covalent bonds are more stronger than the ionic bonds.

carbon form covalent bond but not ionic bod because on the the share of each electron there is some repulsion faced by any atom forming ionic bond and on sharing 4 electrons the repulsion caused is so powerful that can even destroy the atom therefore atoms like carbon and silicon which needs 4 electrons to get stable forms covalent bond and not ionic bond
