Carbon is tetravalent in nature, through it has only two unpaired electrons in its electronic configuration. Why?

As the electronic configuration of carbon is 2,4. As it is a tetravalent in nature and its other two electrons had been stable. So that they doesn't react. And doesn't take part in any chemical reaction.
It has two unpaired of electrons because as its atomic no. is 6.
