Lead reacts quite fastly during covalent bonding.Hence,it does not show catenation.

carbon shows unique nature I.e catenation means self linking with another carbon atom...
Only carbon shows this property due to its very small size. .
Due to small size force of attraction between electrons and protons are very high so bond formed between carbon - carbon is very strong as compared to any atom....
This is reason why only carbon shows property of catenation...
