Carboxylic acid are reduced by red P and HI to give alkanes. what is the mechanism ?

Red P in HI is a reagent that is used to generate Nascent Hydrogen. This reaction is one of the method of synthesis of alkanes from alcohol/aldehydes/acids. ... So, yes this reducing agent is used to convert carboxylic acids to saturated hydrocarbon. Regards!
