Loss of carbon dioxide from moleculeof sodium or potassium salt ofcarboxylic acid is called decarboxylation. In this reaction, whensodium or potassium salts ofcarboxylic acids are heated after mixing with soda lime (NaOH + CaO) then methane gas is produced.
