Given: cards numbered from 1 to 25 are mixed up together and then one card is taken out at random.

To Find : Probability that the card is -

a perfect square no.,

multiple of 4,

less than 5,

between 20 and 25,

perfect cube no.,

neither prime nor composite no.,

an odd no.

more then 20,

an even prime no.

Solution:

cards numbered from 1 to 25

Hence n(S)  = 25

A = a perfect square no.,

A = { 1 , 4 , 9 , 26 , 25}

n(A) = 5

P(A) = n(A)/n(S)  = 5/25  = 1/5

Probability that the card is  a perfect square number is 1/5 or 0.2

B = multiple of 4,

B = { 4 , 8 ,12 , 16 , 20 , 24 }

n(B) = 6

P(B) = 6/25  = 0.24

C = less than 5

C = { 1 ,2  ,3 , 4 }

n(C) = 4

P(C) = 4/25  = 0.16

D = between 20 and 25,

D = { 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 }

n(D) = 4

P(D) = 4/25  = 0.16

E perfect cube no.,

E = {1  , 8 }

n(E) = 2

P(E)  = 2/25  = 0.08

F = neither prime nor composite no.,

F = { 1}

n(F) = 1

P(F) = 1/25 = 0.04

G = an odd no.

n(G) = 13

P(G) = 13/25 = 0.52

H = more then 20

n(H ) = 5

P(H) = 5/25 = 1/5 = 0.2

J = an even prime no.

J = {2 }

n(J) = 1

P(J) = 1/25 = 0.04
