A person in distress obviously is not in a good condition. Someone to understand them and feel their pain. In a condition of sorrow. Financial help might be useful but care and sympathy can do more. Making the person feel better and hopeful. In the poem 'Sympathy' the poet says that he knows how the bird feels. Seeing the pain of the bird and understanding its plea. The bird sending a prayer to the heavens to be set free.
