Answer:

Miriam has 24 Dollars

Step-by-step explanation:

Trust me ,it took me a while to solve this and I felt like giving up,but here it goes:

    Let Carlos be x

   Let Miriam be y

   SO x + y = 90 Dollars

   Since Carlos has 275 % as much as Miriam, lets change 275 % to a fraction to make all things easier : 275/100 = 11/4

  So x (which is Carlos is the same as x) is 275% Of Miriam ( who is y) , so he is equally 11/4 (same as 275 %) of y(same as Miriam)

  Therefore we substitute the values in our first equation ' x + y = 90 Dollars '

                                                                                                ↓      ↓        ↓

                                                                                           (11/4y) + y  = 90 Dollars

11y     +y     =    90 Dollars

—       —                          (—) (This sign depicts the all over or divided by sign)

4           1

11y + 4y

—————    = 90 Dollars

        4

15y

——    = 90 Dollars  (Cross-multiply)

 4

   15y = 90 x 4

   15y = 360

    y =   24 Dollars

Which means Miriam = 24 Dollars and Carlos =  66 Dollars(90-24)

Hope this helps !!! Took me a lot of time ,but hope its worth it :)
