The first level of food chain i.e. first trophic level is always plants because they produce food by the process called photosynthesis.

The next trophic may contains herbivores animals i.e. the animals which feed on the plants or it may contains omnivorous animals i.e. the animals feed on both plants and animals.

To be clear that carnivores are animals which feed on the other animals (not plants).

So they cannot stay in the second trophic level.

Examples:

1. Grass ----> Grasshopper -------> Frog ----------> Python --------> Eagle.

2. Grass -----> Goat --------> Lion.
