The poet tells the way to recognize the animals and he uses their way of physical attack to convey this. One may become frightened if this happened in real life but reading the poem does not install fear in the reader. On the other hand, it gives way for laughter. For example, the poet says that hyenas come with merry smiles; but if they weep, they're Crocodiles.
