Carotenes and caroteniods are same or not??

• Carotene is a class of hydrocarbons which belongs to the carotenoid family.

• Carotenes are hydrocarbons, whereas there are some other carotenoids which contain oxygen.

• Carotenes are non polar compared to some carotenoids like xanthophylls.
