A Carpus luteum is a cell that forms an an ovary and is responsible for the production of harmone progesterone during early pregnancy. The role of Carpus luteum depends on whether or not fertilisation occurs.

Function:-

The Carpus luteum secretes progesterone, which is a steroid hormone for decidulization of endomatrium (it's development) and maintenance respectively.

Corpus luteum is the ruptured part of grafiaan follicle, it is yellow in colour.

Function: corpus luteum secretes progesterone for the maintenance of endometrium and in this way it acts as a gland too.
