Question :-

The numerator of a rational number is 3 less than its denominator. If numerator is

increased by 1 and denominator is increased by 3, the number becomes 1/2

Answer :-

➡ ( x-2) ( x+3) = 1/2

➡ 2 ( x-2 ) = 1 ( x + 3 )

➡ 2x - 4 = x + 3

➡ 2x - x = 3 + 4

➡ x = 7

Substitute :-

Numinator = 7 - 3 = 4

Denominator = 7

The rational number is 4 / 7
