Let us carry out the Conversions

Explanation:

(1)Ethanoic acid from  ethanol

It can be converted by complete  oxidation of ethanol .This is done in presence of strong oxidising agent like alk.KMnO₄.

CH₃CH₂OH------> CH₃COOH

                   Alk.KMnO₄

(2) Ethane from ethene

It can be made by hydrogenation in presence of reducing agents like Ni etc .

CH₂CH₂ + H₂-------->CH₃CH₃

                      Ni
