mind of Rahul by looking at the figure: Find the area of triangle ABP in sq. cm. *

science. So, he makes a shape of UFO
which is shown in below figure. In this
figure ABCD is a rectangle and the
equilateral triangles APB, BCQ, CDR and
ADS are described on its sides.

Given:

In  figure ABCD is a rectangle and the  equilateral triangles APB, BCQ, CDR and  ADS are described on its sides of 6 cm.

Solution:

Know that,

Area of equilateral triangle \[ = \frac{{\sqrt 3 }}{4}{a^2}\]

Therefore,

\[\begin{array}{l} = \frac{{\sqrt 3 }}{4} \times {6^2}\\ = \frac{{\sqrt 3 }}{4} \times 36\\ = 9\sqrt 3 \,c{m^2}\end{array}\]

Hence, the area triangle ABP is \[9\sqrt 3 \,c{m^2}\].
