The water conservation scheme ‘Bhagirath Krishak Abhyan’ was started in Dewas district by an IAS officer Umakant Umrao.
‘Bhagirat Krishak Abhiyan’ has won an award from United Nations. The plan has brought the level of the ground water up because the water gets into the ground whenever the water get stagnated for five hours. The scheme was started in February 2006. Talking to ‘The Pioneer’ means Umrao said that ‘nothing sells like profit’. The idea of profit makes a motivational fact of many farmers who came there to try this model and make it a successful case.
