It is a band of cell wall material, formed in the radial and transverse wall of the endodermis in plants. It is different from the cell wall. The cell wall is made up of Lignin whereas the Casparian strip is made of Suberin and sometimes Lignin.

The Casparian strips are responsible for regulating the water and mineral intake by the plant roots.
