Answer:

Miscible solutions: The solutions which dissolve completely and form true solution are called miscible solutions.

Immiscible solutions: The solutions in which suspension is left is known as immiscible solutions.

Partially miscible solutions: The solutions which do not dissolve or do not suspend are called partially miscible solutions.

Explanation:

  • Examples of miscible solutions are salt water, sugar water, dil. HCl etc..
  • Examples of immiscible solutions are sand water, CaCO₃ in water as white precipitate etc...
  • Examples of partially miscible solutions are synthetic gum in water etc...

Separating the solutions by chemical methods:

  1. We can separate gasoline and kerosene by fractional distillation.
  2. As gasoline is a petroleum product which is not soluble in water we can separate them by decantation. We can also separate them by setting the temperature at 100°C.
  3. Depending on the organic solvent's efficiency with dissolving ethanoic acid and it's melting point, you might be able to crystallize the ethanoic acid at very low temperatures.
  4. After settling of the mixtures, you can decant of the oil.
