First we should understand what are caterpillar tracks -
Caterpillar tracks are knobbly strips of metal or rubber, which wrap around the wheels of tanks, bulldozers and other off road vehicles. They prevent the wheels from getting stuck in muddy or sandy ground.

Battle tanks are way too heavy. It is possible that if we use tyres instead of tracks, the tyres may burst/blow up as they won't be able to stand the pressure exerted by the Tank.
