Cathode don't attract negative charge,it repells it. So,how can it be possible?

maria9: do u mean in electrolysis
vanshikadudeja: No, in the experiment of discovery of protons. Why perforated cathode is used?

cathode is made of negativeions
so negative doesn't attract negative but repells

Cathode rays are emitted by negative electrode. The rays are negatively charged. It is not possible that it will attract negative charges ( electrons) . We know like charges repel each other while unlike charges attract each other.
So negative charges or electrons will be repelled by cathode rays while positive charges will be attracted
