Cathode rays are electrons emitted by cathode and travelling towards anode and it can emitted by the negative electrode or cathode in the part of the vacuum tube a and also electrons must have negative charges which repelled by the cathode since the electron have negative charges stay via empty tube with no risk and trouble of it.
