Spent on movie = x/3
         On books = x/6
Spent on dress= x-x/3-x/6= x/2
Half the money is spent on dress.

Let the pocket money be 1
Spent on movie = 1/3
         On books = 1/6
total expenditure=1/3+1/6=(2+1)/6=3/6=1/2
So, money spent on the dress = 1- 1/2=(2-1)/2=1/2
